Description

Parbar in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Parbar, meaning "colonnade" or "portico," was a structure mentioned in connection with the organization of the Levites and their duties in the temple during the reign of King David (1Chr. 26:18). It was located on the west side of the temple complex in Jerusalem. The Levites were assigned to guard the gates and entrances of the temple, including the gate of Shallecheth, which led to the Parbar.

The exact nature and purpose of the Parbar are not described in detail in the Bible. It may have been a colonnade or a series of chambers used for storage or other functions related to the temple service. Some scholars suggest that the Parbar might have been a part of the temple complex added during the reign of Solomon or later kings. However, due to the limited information provided in the biblical text, the precise structure and role of the Parbar remain uncertain.

The pattern

Where Parbar is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

1 verse across 1 of 66 books; 65 write the name nowhere. Named in 1 Chronicles (1).

Parbar is named in 1 verse — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
