What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
A flawed vessel leaves the potter’s hand only to become another vessel, while Judah, offered a change of course, declares that it is hopeless and keeps its own plans.
The potter’s housevv. 1–12
The LORD sends Jeremiah down to the potter’s house, where a vessel goes wrong in the maker’s hand and is calmly reworked into another shape. The lesson is addressed to Israel: nations may be torn down or built up, and their fate turns with their response. Judah and Jerusalem are warned of disaster and told to turn from evil; their answer is a wonderfully blunt refusal—hopeless, they will follow their own plans and the stubbornness of their hearts.
The old roads abandonedvv. 13–17
The LORD sets Israel’s conduct beside the snow and waters of Lebanon, which do not simply abandon their courses. Israel, however, has forgotten Him, burned incense to worthless idols, and left the ancient roads for rutted bypaths—a choice of route so poor that even the landscape becomes an object of scorn. Then comes the east wind, scattering them before the enemy, with the LORD showing His back rather than His face.
The pit for Jeremiahvv. 18–23
Some men decide to make plans against Jeremiah, appealing to the permanent supplies of priestly law, wise counsel, and prophetic oracle before proposing to denounce him and ignore him. Jeremiah answers by recalling that he had stood before the LORD to speak good on their behalf; the prayer then turns sharply, asking that famine, sword, disease, raiders, and ruin come upon the plotters and their households. The pit and the hidden snares are theirs in the accusation, but the final appeal belongs to the LORD, who knows the deadly plots.

Jer 18:1This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD:
Jer 18:2“Go down at once to the potter’s house, and there I will give you My message.”
Jer 18:3So I went down to the potter’s house and saw him working at the wheel.
Jer 18:4But the vessel that he was shaping from the clay became flawed in his hand; so he formed it into another vessel, as it seemed best for him to do.
Jer 18:5Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Jer 18:6“O house of Israel, declares the LORD, can I not treat you as this potter treats his clay? Just like clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in My hand, O house of Israel.
Jer 18:7At any time I might announce that a nation or kingdom will be uprooted, torn down, and destroyed.
Jer 18:8But if that nation I warned turns from its evil, then I will relent of the disaster I had planned to bring.
Jer 18:9And if at another time I announce that I will build up and establish a nation or kingdom,
Jer 18:10and if it does evil in My sight and does not listen to My voice, then I will relent of the good I had intended for it.
Jer 18:11Now therefore, tell the men of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem that this is what the LORD says: ‘Behold, I am planning a disaster for you and devising a plan against you. Turn now, each of you, from your evil ways, and correct your ways and deeds.’
Jer 18:12But they will reply, ‘It is hopeless. We will follow our own plans, and each of us will act according to the stubbornness of his evil heart.’”
Jer 18:13Therefore this is what the LORD says: “Inquire among the nations: Who has ever heard things like these? Virgin Israel has done a most terrible thing.
Jer 18:14Does the snow of Lebanon ever leave its rocky slopes? Or do its cool waters flowing from a distance ever run dry?
Jer 18:15Yet My people have forgotten Me. They burn incense to worthless idols that make them stumble in their ways, leaving the ancient roads to walk on rutted bypaths instead of on the highway.
Jer 18:16They have made their land a desolation, a perpetual object of scorn; all who pass by will be appalled and shake their heads.
Jer 18:17I will scatter them before the enemy like the east wind. I will show them My back and not My face in the day of their calamity.”
Jer 18:18Then some said, “Come, let us make plans against Jeremiah, for the law will never be lost to the priest, nor counsel to the wise, nor an oracle to the prophet. Come, let us denounce him and pay no heed to any of his words.”
Jer 18:19Attend to me, O LORD. Hear what my accusers are saying!
Jer 18:20Should good be repaid with evil? Yet they have dug a pit for me. Remember how I stood before You to speak good on their behalf, to turn Your wrath from them.
Jer 18:21Therefore, hand their children over to famine; pour out the power of the sword upon them. Let their wives become childless and widowed; let their husbands be slain by disease, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.
Jer 18:22Let a cry be heard from their houses when You suddenly bring raiders against them, for they have dug a pit to capture me and have hidden snares for my feet.
Jer 18:23But You, O LORD, know all their deadly plots against me. Do not wipe out their guilt or blot out their sin from Your sight. Let them be overthrown before You; deal with them in the time of Your anger.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
