What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
A boiling pot tilts toward Jerusalem from the north, and disaster is poured out of it—a remarkably domestic kettle with an international career.
A mouth made readyvv. 1–10
Jeremiah is introduced as the son of Hilkiah, a priest in Anathoth, and his prophetic career is dated across the reigns of Josiah, Jehoiakim, and Zedekiah, ending when Jerusalem goes into exile. The LORD’s commission begins before Jeremiah can object: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” Jeremiah objects anyway, pleading that he is only a child and does not know how to speak. The answer is not a lesson in public speaking but a hand reaching out to touch his mouth: “I have put My words in your mouth.” He is then appointed over nations and kingdoms, with the rather formidable duties “to uproot and tear down” and “to build and plant.”
The almond branch and the kettlevv. 11–19
Jeremiah is asked what he sees. First, an almond-tree branch; the LORD says he has observed correctly because the LORD is watching over His word. The explanation is left hanging neatly beside the branch. Then comes the boiling pot, tilting from the north. Its contents are disaster for the land: northern kings will set up thrones at Jerusalem’s gates and attack Judah’s cities, while judgment is pronounced for abandoning the LORD and worshiping handmade gods. Jeremiah is told to stand up and speak without intimidation. The final image is less household utensil and more fortress: a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls.

Jer 1:1These are the words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests in Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin.
Jer 1:2The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah,
Jer 1:3and through the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, until the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.
Jer 1:4The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Jer 1:5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
Jer 1:6“Ah, Lord GOD,” I said, “I surely do not know how to speak, for I am only a child!”
Jer 1:7But the LORD told me: “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ For to everyone I send you, you must go, and all that I command you, you must speak.
Jer 1:8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
Jer 1:9Then the LORD reached out His hand, touched my mouth, and said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
Jer 1:10See, I have appointed you today over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and plant.”
Jer 1:11And the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” “I see a branch of an almond tree,” I replied.
Jer 1:12“You have observed correctly,” said the LORD, “for I am watching over My word to accomplish it.”
Jer 1:13Again the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “What do you see?” “I see a boiling pot,” I replied, “and it is tilting toward us from the north.”
Jer 1:14Then the LORD said to me, “Disaster from the north will be poured out on all who live in the land.
Jer 1:15For I am about to summon all the clans and kingdoms of the north,” declares the LORD. “Their kings will come and set up their thrones at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem. They will attack all her surrounding walls and all the other cities of Judah.
Jer 1:16I will pronounce My judgments against them for all their wickedness, because they have forsaken Me, and they have burned incense to other gods and worshiped the works of their own hands.
Jer 1:17Get yourself ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not be intimidated by them, or I will terrify you before them.
Jer 1:18Now behold, this day I have made you like a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.
Jer 1:19They will fight against you but will never overcome you, since I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
