Description

Adoraim in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Adoraim is mentioned in 2Ch.11.9 as one of the cities that King Rehoboam, son of Solomon, fortified in the kingdom of Judah. After the division of the kingdom following Solomon's death, Rehoboam strengthened the defenses of Judah by building fortified cities, including Adoraim. These cities were strategically located to protect Judah's borders and key routes from potential attacks by the northern kingdom of Israel or other enemies.

The exact location of Adoraim is not specified in the Bible, but it was likely situated in the hill country of Judah, possibly southwest of Hebron. The name Adoraim means "two mounds" or "double honor," perhaps referring to the city's topography or its importance. This mention in the context of Rehoboam's fortifications suggests it played a role in the defense of the southern kingdom.

The pattern

Where Adoraim is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

1 verse across 1 of 66 books; 65 write the name nowhere. Named in 2 Chronicles (1).

Adoraim is named in 1 verse — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
