Where the story of Sebam happens Where the gazetteer locates Sebam, framed to them: Sebam. Each dot is a coordinate from the gazetteer. The coastline is a modern one, simplified; no border, road or settlement of any period is drawn, and no line joins two points, because the rows state where and not in what order.Sebam

Description

Sebam in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Sebam is mentioned only once in the Bible, in the list of towns requested by the tribes of Reuben and Gad as their inheritance east of the Jordan River (Num. 32:3). The town was located in the territory allotted to the tribe of Reuben, which was situated in the southern part of the region known as Gilead. The exact location of Sebam is unknown, but it was likely in the vicinity of other towns mentioned in the same list, such as Heshbon and Elealeh. No other information about the town is provided in the Bible, and its history and significance remain obscure. The request for these towns by Reuben and Gad suggests that the region was suitable for livestock and agriculture, which were the primary occupations of these tribes.

Where Sebam is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

1 verse across 1 of 66 books; 65 write the name nowhere. Named in Numbers (1).

Sebam is named in 1 verse — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
