The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The psalm first finds not one good person anywhere, then spots God keeping company with the righteous—an awkwardly crowded moral landscape, and it does not stop to draw the map.
A world turned awayvv. 1–3
David’s song opens with the fool’s private verdict, then lets heaven look down to inspect the sons of men. The inspection is brief and grim: all have turned away, and the repeated verdict leaves no obvious room for the righteous who will appear later. The psalm is not troubled by this sudden overcrowding of the moral landscape.
Bread, dread, and Zionvv. 4–7
The workers of iniquity devour God’s people as casually as bread, while refusing to call upon the LORD. Then comes the turn: dread overtakes them because God is with the righteous, and the oppressed have the LORD as their shelter. The final wish looks towards Zion, where salvation for Israel might come and captive people might be restored to rejoicing.
