Psalms 56
Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.
The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
David’s tears are not merely noticed: they are to be bottled and entered in a book, while the enemies who twist his words lurk about his steps.
The hunted singer and the bottlevv. 1–9
The heading supplies an occasion, a captor, a city, and a tune called “A Dove on Distant Oaks,” but leaves the dove and the distant oaks entirely to themselves. David is hounded, pressed, pursued, and watched; fear arrives, and trust answers it. The enemies twist his words and conspire over his life, while God keeps a remarkably careful account of the distress: wanderings noticed, tears bottled, tears entered in a book. Then comes the expectation that the enemies will retreat when help is called for.
Praise, vows, and the light of lifevv. 10–13
The refrain returns, now with the LORD named alongside God: the word is praised twice, fear is refused twice, and the question remains magnificently unimpressed with human menace. David’s vows are upon him, so thanksgiving is due. The psalm ends with a delivered soul, steadied feet, and a walk before God in the light of life.

Ps 56:1For the choirmaster. To the tune of “A Dove on Distant Oaks.” A Miktam of David, when the Philistines seized him in Gath. Be merciful to me, O God, for men are hounding me; all day they press their attack.
Ps 56:2My enemies pursue me all day long, for many proudly assail me.
Ps 56:3When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.
Ps 56:4In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust. I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Ps 56:5All day long they twist my words; all their thoughts are on my demise.
Ps 56:6They conspire, they lurk, they watch my steps while they wait to take my life.
Ps 56:7In spite of such sin, will they escape? In Your anger, O God, cast down the nations.
Ps 56:8You have taken account of my wanderings. Put my tears in Your bottle—are they not in Your book?
Ps 56:9Then my enemies will retreat on the day I cry for help. By this I will know that God is on my side.
Ps 56:10In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise,
Ps 56:11in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?
Ps 56:12Your vows are upon me, O God; I will render thank offerings to You.
Ps 56:13For You have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from stumbling, that I may walk before God in the light of life.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
