Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.

The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

Enoch walks with God for 300 years, reaches 365, and then leaves the family line without the customary notice of death.

From Adam to Jaredvv. 1–20

The generations begin with Adam, made in the likeness of God, and Seth, born in Adam’s own likeness. From Seth to Enosh, Kenan, Mahalalel, and Jared, the pattern is grandly repetitive: a son is born, other sons and daughters appear, an astonishing number of years pass, and then the father dies. Even the longest lives are given the same small final door.

The man who is no morevv. 21–24

Enoch becomes the father of Methuselah at sixty-five, then walks with God for three hundred years while having other sons and daughters. His total is only 365 years, a modest figure beside Jared’s 962, but the real oddity arrives at the end: Enoch is not said to die. He is simply no more, because God has taken him away—a wonderfully abrupt interruption in a very orderly family procession.

Methuselah, Lamech, and Noahvv. 25–32

Methuselah fathers Lamech and lives 969 years before the old formula returns. Lamech’s own life ends at 777, a strikingly neat number left entirely unexplained, while his son Noah arrives with a name and a hope: comfort from the labor and toil caused by the cursed ground. At the close, Noah is five hundred years old and becomes the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth; the genealogy ends with three names waiting in the wings.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
