Description
Who was Noah?
Noah was the son of Lamech, a descendant of Seth (Gen.5.29-30). He was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked faithfully with God (Gen.6.9). When God saw the wickedness of humanity, He chose Noah to build an ark to save his family and representatives of all animals from the coming flood (Gen.6.13-22). Noah obeyed God and built the ark, and he and his family entered it along with the animals (Genesis 7). After the flood, Noah built an altar and made sacrifices to God (Gen.8.20). God blessed Noah and his sons, establishing a covenant with them and setting the rainbow as a sign of His promise never to destroy the earth by flood again (Genesis 9). Noah lived for 950 years (Gen.9.29). He is remembered as an example of faith (Heb.11.7) and righteousness (Ezk.14.14, 20; 2Pe.2.5).
Relations
Direct connections
Every entity the graph places in a stated relation with this one, grouped by the kind of link. Each relation is authored once and its inverse derived, so both ends always agree. Rows marked “registry” come from the identity spine rather than from a verse, and a row marked “which bearer is the source’s decision” is one where the name could have meant more than one person. The last group is not a relation at all — it counts the events two entities stand in together.

Places
Where this happens
A person is placed by the events they take part in, and an event has to clear three things to place them: it must say where it happened, that place must be one the gazetteer can put a coordinate on, and the verse must report it rather than foretell, command or ask it. Nothing anchored here clears all three. Where the text names a setting no gazetteer surveys — a vineyard, a palace, a plot of ground — it is left off rather than guessed at; where a place is named only in a prophecy, the map does not draw what was said to be coming as though it had happened; and a place reached only through a relation is not inherited, because standing beside somebody is not being somewhere.
No verse Atlas has read as a report puts this person anywhere.

The pattern
Where Noah is named
Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.
47 verses across 9 of 66 books; 57 write the name nowhere. Named in Genesis (35), 1 Chronicles (1), Isaiah (1), Ezekiel (2), Matthew (2), Luke (3), Hebrews (1), 1 Peter (1) and 2 Peter (1).

Where they appear
Chapter by chapter
Atlas's reading of each chapter this person appears in, in canonical order. One line per chapter, and each leads to the whole of it.
- Genesis 6Noah found favor with the LORD, received the ark’s extraordinary specifications, and did everything precisely as commanded.
- Genesis 7Noah did all that the LORD had commanded him, entered the ark with his household, and remained there as the waters prevailed.
- Genesis 8Noah waits for the waters to recede, sends out a raven and a dove, leaves the ark, and builds an altar.
- Genesis 9Noah receives God's covenant, plants a vineyard, becomes drunk, and curses Canaan after learning what Ham did.
- Genesis 10Noah’s sons Shem, Ham, and Japheth had sons after the flood, and their clans became the families from which the nations spread out.
- Ezekiel 14Noah is named among three whose righteousness could deliver only themselves.
- Matthew 24Noah entered the ark while people went on eating, drinking, marrying, and giving in marriage until the flood came.
- Luke 17Noah enters the ark while people continue eating, drinking, marrying, and being given in marriage, and then the flood destroys them all.
