Description

Cauda in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Cauda, also known as Clauda or Gavdos, is mentioned once in the Bible, in Act.27.16. During Paul's journey to Rome as a prisoner, the ship he was on encountered a severe storm. As they were being driven along by the wind, they passed to the south of a small island called Cauda.

The crew used this brief respite from the storm to secure the ship's lifeboat and undergird the ship with ropes to strengthen it against the battering waves (Act.27.16-17). This measure was taken to prevent the ship from being run aground on the nearby Syrtis Sands, a notorious sandbar off the coast of North Africa.

Cauda is a small island located south of Crete in the Mediterranean Sea. It provided a brief moment of shelter for Paul's ship during the storm, allowing the crew to make necessary preparations before continuing their perilous journey to Rome.

The pattern

Where Cauda is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

1 verse across 1 of 66 books; 65 write the name nowhere. Named in Acts (1).

Cauda is named in 1 verse — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
