Illyricum

Ἰλλυρικόν

Illyricum, a region where Paul preached the gospel (Romans 15:19).

Where the story of Illyricum happens Where the gazetteer locates Illyricum, framed to them: Illyricum. Each dot is a coordinate from the gazetteer. The coastline is a modern one, simplified; no border, road or settlement of any period is drawn, and no line joins two points, because the rows state where and not in what order.Illyricum

Description

Illyricum in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Illyricum was a region located along the eastern coast of the Adriatic Sea, corresponding to modern-day Albania, Montenegro, and parts of Croatia and Serbia. In Romans 15:19, the apostle Paul mentions that he has fully preached the gospel from Jerusalem all the way around to Illyricum. This suggests that Paul had traveled and preached in the region during his missionary journeys, although no specific details of his ministry there are provided in the Bible. Illyricum was known as a Roman province, and Paul's mention of it highlights the extent of his gospel outreach in the early years of Christianity.

The pattern

Where Illyricum is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

1 verse across 1 of 66 books; 65 write the name nowhere. Named in Romans (1).

Illyricum is named in 1 verse — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
