Where the story of Samos happens Where the gazetteer locates Samos, framed to them: Samos. Each dot is a coordinate from the gazetteer. The coastline is a modern one, simplified; no border, road or settlement of any period is drawn, and no line joins two points, because the rows state where and not in what order.Samos

Description

Samos in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Samos is a Greek island located in the eastern Aegean Sea, near the coast of modern-day Turkey. In the Bible, Samos is mentioned only once, in the context of Paul's third missionary journey. Act.20.15 records that Paul and his companions, after leaving Miletus, arrived at Samos and stayed there for a night before proceeding to Miletus. Samos was known in ancient times for its strategic location, its fertile land, and its cultural achievements. The island was an important center of trade and learning, and it was the birthplace of several notable philosophers, mathematicians, and artists. Paul's brief stop at Samos demonstrates the extent of his travels and the strategic importance of the island as a transit point in the Aegean Sea.

The pattern

Where Samos is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

1 verse across 1 of 66 books; 65 write the name nowhere. Named in Acts (1).

Samos is named in 1 verse — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
