What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
A public oath promises death to refusers, and the congregation answers with trumpets, rams’ horns, and rejoicing; later Asa removes his grandmother and burns her work in Kidron.
A word, and a broom through the idolsvv. 1–8
The Spirit of God comes upon Azariah son of Oded, who goes out to meet Asa with a message about seeking and forsaking the LORD. He describes a bleak stretch in which Israel has no true God, no instructing priest, and no law, while travelers find no safety and nations crush nations. Asa hears the prophecy, takes courage, removes the idols from Judah, Benjamin, and the captured cities in Ephraim, and restores the LORD’s altar. A sermon, in this case, arrives with rather a lot of housework attached.
The oath with its alarming small printvv. 9–15
Asa gathers Judah and Benjamin, together with people from Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who have settled among them, and they assemble in Jerusalem. They sacrifice seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep, then enter a covenant to seek the LORD with all their heart and soul. The terms are severe: anyone who will not seek the LORD is to die, young or old, man or woman. The response is not a hush but an uproar of shouting, trumpets, and rams’ horns, followed by rejoicing; the oath has somehow acquired both a death clause and a festival.
A family matter in the Kidron Valleyvv. 16–19
The reform then reaches Asa’s own household. He removes his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she has made a detestable Asherah pole; Asa chops it down, crushes it, and burns it in the Kidron Valley. The high places remain, though Asa’s heart is fully devoted all his days, and he brings the silver, gold, and articles dedicated by himself and his father into the house of God. The final sentence gives the calendar an impressive, unexplained flourish: no war until Asa’s thirty-fifth year.

2 Chr 15:1Now the Spirit of God came upon Azariah son of Oded.
2 Chr 15:2So he went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa and all Judah and Benjamin. The LORD is with you when you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you, but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.
2 Chr 15:3For many years Israel has been without the true God, without a priest to instruct them, and without the law.
2 Chr 15:4But in their distress they turned to the LORD, the God of Israel, and sought Him, and He was found by them.
2 Chr 15:5In those days there was no safety for travelers, because the residents of the lands had many conflicts.
2 Chr 15:6Nation was crushed by nation, and city by city, for God afflicted them with all kinds of adversity.
2 Chr 15:7But as for you, be strong; do not be discouraged, for your work will be rewarded.”
2 Chr 15:8When Asa heard these words and the prophecy of Azariah son of Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the detestable idols from the whole land of Judah and Benjamin and from the cities he had captured in the hill country of Ephraim. He then restored the altar of the LORD that was in front of the portico of the LORD’s temple.
2 Chr 15:9And he assembled all Judah and Benjamin, along with those from the tribes of Ephraim, Manasseh, and Simeon who had settled among them, for great numbers had come over to him from Israel when they saw that the LORD his God was with him.
2 Chr 15:10So they gathered together in Jerusalem in the third month of the fifteenth year of Asa’s reign.
2 Chr 15:11At that time they sacrificed to the LORD seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from all the plunder they had brought back.
2 Chr 15:12Then they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.
2 Chr 15:13And whoever would not seek the LORD, the God of Israel, would be put to death, whether young or old, man or woman.
2 Chr 15:14They took an oath to the LORD with a loud voice, with shouting, trumpets, and rams’ horns.
2 Chr 15:15And all Judah rejoiced over the oath, for they had sworn it with all their heart. They had sought Him earnestly, and He was found by them. So the LORD gave them rest on every side.
2 Chr 15:16King Asa also removed his grandmother Maacah from her position as queen mother because she had made a detestable Asherah pole. Asa chopped down the pole, crushed it, and burned it in the Kidron Valley.
2 Chr 15:17The high places were not removed from Israel, but Asa’s heart was fully devoted all his days.
2 Chr 15:18And he brought into the house of God the silver and gold and the articles that he and his father had dedicated.
2 Chr 15:19And there was no war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa’s reign.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
