Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.
The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
At the bottom of the sea, a serpent waits on the Lord's orders for fugitives who thought they had found somewhere to hide.
Nowhere to fleevv. 1–10
Amos sees the Lord beside the altar, and the first instruction is wonderfully structural: strike the tops of the pillars until the thresholds shake, then let the building fall upon the people beneath it. The fugitives are given an escape map covering Sheol, heaven, Carmel, and the bottom of the sea; each route ends badly, and the sea-route includes a serpent specially commanded to bite. The Lord touches the earth and it melts, makes the land rise and sink like the Nile, and summons the waters over the earth. Israel is then placed beside the Cushites, while Egypt, Philistia, Caphtor, and Kir appear in a brisk account of who was brought up from where. The sinful kingdom will be destroyed, though the house of Jacob will not be utterly destroyed. Israel is shaken among the nations like grain in a sieve, with the remarkably careful proviso that not a pebble reaches the ground. The sinners who insist that disaster will never draw near meet the sword.
The fallen tent and the crowded harvestvv. 11–15
Then the scene turns from toppling and sifting to rebuilding. The fallen tent of David is repaired, its gaps restored, and its ruins made sound again, with Edom and the nations bearing the Lord's name brought within its reach. The calendar itself becomes crowded: plowing catches the reaping, grape-treading overlaps the sowing, and the mountains drip with sweet wine. Israel's ruined cities are inhabited again, vineyards and gardens yield their produce, and the people are planted in their own land with no further uprooting announced.

Amos 9:1I saw the Lord standing beside the altar, and He said: “Strike the tops of the pillars so that the thresholds shake. Topple them on the heads of all the people, and I will kill the rest with the sword. None of those who flee will get away; none of the fugitives will escape.
Amos 9:2Though they dig down to Sheol, from there My hand will take them; and though they climb up to heaven, from there I will pull them down.
Amos 9:3Though they hide themselves atop Carmel, there I will track them and seize them; and though they hide from Me at the bottom of the sea, there I will command the serpent to bite them.
Amos 9:4Though they are driven by their enemies into captivity, there I will command the sword to slay them. I will fix My eyes upon them for harm and not for good.”
Amos 9:5The Lord GOD of Hosts, He who touches the earth and it melts, and all its dwellers mourn—all the land rises like the Nile, then sinks like the river of Egypt—
Amos 9:6He builds His upper rooms in the heavens and founds His vault upon the earth. He summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth. The LORD is His name.
Amos 9:7“Are you not like the Cushites to Me, O children of Israel?” declares the LORD. “Did I not bring Israel up from the land of Egypt, the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Arameans from Kir?
Amos 9:8Surely the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” declares the LORD.
Amos 9:9“For surely I will give the command, and I will shake the house of Israel among all the nations as grain is sifted in a sieve; but not a pebble will reach the ground.
Amos 9:10All the sinners among My people will die by the sword—all those who say, ‘Disaster will never draw near or confront us.’”
Amos 9:11“In that day I will restore the fallen tent of David. I will repair its gaps, restore its ruins, and rebuild it as in the days of old,
Amos 9:12that they may possess the remnant of Edom and all the nations that bear My name,” declares the LORD, who will do this.
Amos 9:13“Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when the plowman will overtake the reaper and the treader of grapes, the sower of seed. The mountains will drip with sweet wine, with which all the hills will flow.
Amos 9:14I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.
Amos 9:15I will firmly plant them in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land that I have given them,” says the LORD your God.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
