The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

Leviathan, formed by God to frolic in the sea, shares the waters with passing ships.

The world is arrangedvv. 1–9

The psalm opens with the LORD dressed in splendor, wrapping Himself in light and stretching the heavens like a tent. Clouds become His chariot, winds His messengers, and flames of fire His servants. Beneath this astonishing household, the earth is founded, the deep retreats at His rebuke, and the waters are given a boundary—creation with rather firm coastal management.

Water, food, and the timetablevv. 10–24

Springs run between the mountains, supplying beasts, donkeys, birds, livestock, and people. The earth produces wine, oil, and bread; trees fill themselves, birds nest, wild goats climb, and rock badgers retreat into cliffs. The moon marks the seasons, the sun knows its setting, lions hunt by night, and people work until evening. Nothing is idle for long, though the stork has sensibly chosen a cypress.

The sea, the breath, and the songvv. 25–35

The sea arrives as a second great world, vast enough for ships and creatures beyond counting, including Leviathan, who has apparently been made for frolic. Every creature looks to God for food; an open hand satisfies, a hidden face terrifies, and withdrawn breath returns living things to dust. Yet the Spirit creates again and renews the face of the earth. The psalmist answers with a lifelong song, while hoping that sinners and the wicked will vanish from the earth—a brisk final turn after the lions, ships, and playful sea monster.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
