Isaiah 25

Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.

The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

Death is swallowed forever, tears are wiped from every face, and then Moab appears beneath the feet—straw trodden into a dung pile, with hands flung out there like a swimmer’s.

The refuge and the feastvv. 1–9

The song begins with praise for wonders planned long ago, while cities of ruthless nations collapse into rubble and the poor find refuge from storm, heat, and the breath of the ruthless. Then the scene rises to the mountain: a banquet for all peoples, with aged wine named twice around the choice meat. The mountain swallows the shroud over every nation, and death itself, while the LORD wipes away tears and removes disgrace. The waiting ones answer with a cry of recognition and joy.

Moab in the dung pilevv. 10–12

The hand of the LORD rests on the mountain, but Moab is assigned a far less elevated setting. Straw is trodden into the dung pile; within it, hands spread as though swimming. Pride is brought low despite the skill of those hands, and the high-walled fortress ends in dust. It is an impressively complete change of scenery.

  1. Isa 25:1O LORD, You are my God! I will exalt You; I will praise Your name. For You have worked wonders—plans formed long ago—in perfect faithfulness.

  2. Isa 25:2Indeed, You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin. The fortress of strangers is a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.

  3. Isa 25:3Therefore, a strong people will honor You. The cities of ruthless nations will revere You.

  4. Isa 25:4For You have been a refuge for the poor, a stronghold for the needy in distress, a refuge from the storm, a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like rain against a wall,

  5. Isa 25:5like heat in a dry land. You subdue the uproar of foreigners. As the shade of a cloud cools the heat, so the song of the ruthless is silenced.

  6. Isa 25:6On this mountain the LORD of Hosts will prepare a lavish banquet for all the peoples, a feast of aged wine, of choice meat, of finely aged wine.

  7. Isa 25:7On this mountain He will swallow up the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations;

  8. Isa 25:8He will swallow up death forever. The Lord GOD will wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken.

  9. Isa 25:9And in that day it will be said, “Surely this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He has saved us. This is the LORD for whom we have waited. Let us rejoice and be glad in His salvation.”

  10. Isa 25:10For the hand of the LORD will rest on this mountain. But Moab will be trampled in his place as straw is trodden into the dung pile.

  11. Isa 25:11He will spread out his hands within it, as a swimmer spreads his arms to swim. His pride will be brought low, despite the skill of his hands.

  12. Isa 25:12The high-walled fortress will be brought down, cast to the ground, into the dust.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
