What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The dead are first shut out of life, then called awake from the dust; Isaiah 26 makes no attempt to smooth the join.
A city with a surprising pavementvv. 1–6
The song begins in Judah with a strong city whose walls are salvation, and its gates open for a faithful nation. Then the lofty city is humbled all the way down, until the oppressed and the poor walk over it. It is a wonderfully thorough reversal: ramparts at one end, trampled dust at the other.
Longing, discipline, and the first verdict on the deadvv. 7–15
The righteous have a level path, while the speaker longs for the LORD through night and dawn. Grace does not improve the wicked man, who manages to behave unjustly even in the land of righteousness. The people confess that other lords ruled them, but only one name remains; then comes the stark announcement that the dead will not live, even as the nation itself is enlarged and its borders extended.
A birth of wind, followed by an inconvenient resurrectionvv. 16–21
In distress, the people pray quietly and labour like a woman in childbirth, only to discover that the result is wind: an image with very little to hold. Yet the next turn is immense. The dead are told to awake and sing, while the living are instructed to go indoors, close the doors, and hide until wrath has passed. Outside, the earth itself is to disclose the blood it has been concealing.

Isa 26:1In that day this song will be sung in the land of Judah: We have a strong city; salvation is established as its walls and ramparts.
Isa 26:2Open the gates so a righteous nation may enter—one that remains faithful.
Isa 26:3You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind, because he trusts in You.
Isa 26:4Trust in the LORD forever, because GOD the LORD is the Rock eternal.
Isa 26:5For He has humbled those who dwell on high; He lays the lofty city low. He brings it down to the ground; He casts it into the dust.
Isa 26:6Feet trample it down—the feet of the oppressed, the steps of the poor.
Isa 26:7The path of the righteous is level; You clear a straight path for the upright.
Isa 26:8Yes, we wait for You, O LORD; we walk in the path of Your judgments. Your name and renown are the desire of our souls.
Isa 26:9My soul longs for You in the night; indeed, my spirit seeks You at dawn. For when Your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
Isa 26:10Though grace is shown to the wicked man, he does not learn righteousness. In the land of righteousness he acts unjustly and fails to see the majesty of the LORD.
Isa 26:11O LORD, Your hand is upraised, but they do not see it. They will see Your zeal for Your people and be put to shame. The fire set for Your enemies will consume them!
Isa 26:12O LORD, You will establish peace for us. For all that we have accomplished, You have done for us.
Isa 26:13O LORD our God, other lords besides You have ruled over us, but Your name alone do we confess.
Isa 26:14The dead will not live; the departed spirits will not rise. Therefore You have punished and destroyed them; You have wiped out all memory of them.
Isa 26:15You have enlarged the nation, O LORD; You have enlarged the nation. You have gained glory for Yourself; You have extended all the borders of the land.
Isa 26:16O LORD, they sought You in their distress; when You disciplined them, they poured out a quiet prayer.
Isa 26:17As a woman with child about to give birth writhes and cries out in pain, so were we in Your presence, O LORD.
Isa 26:18We were with child; we writhed in pain; but we gave birth to wind. We have given no salvation to the earth, nor brought any life into the world.
Isa 26:19Your dead will live; their bodies will rise. Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For your dew is like the dew of the morning, and the earth will bring forth her dead.
Isa 26:20Go, my people, enter your rooms and shut your doors behind you. Hide yourselves a little while until the wrath has passed.
Isa 26:21For behold, the LORD is coming out of His dwelling to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity. The earth will reveal her bloodshed and will no longer conceal her slain.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
