Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.

The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

Darkness arrives on command, the land becomes dark, and still the people defy the word that sent it. The psalm has no explanation for this remarkably uncooperative darkness; it simply lets the night fail at its chief assignment and carries on.

A covenant rememberedvv. 1–15

The song begins with thanksgiving, singing, proclamation, and the rather energetic business of seeking the LORD always. It then turns to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: a covenant made, sworn, confirmed, and narrowed to one inheritance—Canaan. The family is few, wandering among nations and kingdoms, yet kings are warned away from them with the splendidly sharp command, “Do not touch My anointed ones! Do no harm to My prophets!”

Joseph, in irons and in chargevv. 16–22

Famine cuts through the land, and Joseph is sent ahead of the others, though not in any style likely to please him: he is sold as a slave, shackled, and put in irons. The psalm waits until his prediction comes true, then brings in the king, who releases him and promptly makes him master of the household and instructor of princes. A curious career ladder, but a very definite one.

Egypt, afflicted and oddly relievedvv. 23–45

Israel enters Egypt, grows numerous, and becomes the object of Egyptian hatred. Moses and Aaron arrive with signs: darkness, bloodied water, frogs in royal chambers, insects, hail, locusts, and the striking of the firstborn. Then Israel leaves with silver and gold, while Egypt is said to be glad to see them go—an unexplained reversal after all that trouble. The departing people are given cloud, fire, quail, bread, and water from a rock, and are finally brought into the lands of nations, where the psalm ends with statutes, laws, and Hallelujah.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
