The heavenly temple opens, and then becomes the one place nobody may enter until the plagues are finished.

A sea like glass, and a songvv. 1–4

Seven angels appear with the seven final plagues, while beside a sea like glass mixed with fire stand those who conquered the beast, its image, and the number of its name. They hold harps from God and sing the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: a hymn of great works, just ways, holiness, and nations coming to worship. Moses is present here by way of the song, which is a rather splendid entrance for a man who is not otherwise in the scene.

The open temple that must waitvv. 5–8

After this, the heavenly temple—the tabernacle of the Testimony—opens. Seven angels come out in clean, bright linen and golden sashes, and one of the four living creatures hands them seven golden bowls full of God’s wrath. Then smoke fills the temple from God’s glory and power, and the newly opened place becomes inaccessible until the seven plagues are complete: heaven, briefly, has an entrance and a timetable.
