What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
Moses is told to look at the land he will not enter, and answers not with a protest but with a request for a shepherd.
Five daughters make their casevv. 1–11
Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah come to the Tent of Meeting with a remarkably tidy case. Their father, Zelophehad, is dead, has no sons, and—lest anyone confuse the matter—was not among Korah’s rebels. Moses takes the case to the LORD, who agrees that the daughters speak correctly and turns their petition into an ordinance: inheritance passes first to a daughter, then through the nearest available branch of the family.
A view of the land, and a new shepherdvv. 12–23
The LORD sends Moses up the mountain of the Abarim range to see the land, then tells him that he too will be gathered to his people, as Aaron was. The old dispute at Meribah, in Kadesh and the Wilderness of Zin, is named as the reason. Moses’ next thought is the congregation: appoint someone to lead them out and bring them in, lest they resemble sheep without a shepherd. Joshua is chosen, brought before Eleazar and the congregation, given some of Moses’ authority, and commissioned by the laying on of Moses’ hands. A succession ceremony, then, with the Urim waiting in the wings.

Num 27:1Now the daughters of Zelophehad son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, belonged to the clans of Manasseh son of Joseph. These were the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. They approached
Num 27:2the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, stood before Moses, Eleazar the priest, the leaders, and the whole congregation, and said,
Num 27:3“Our father died in the wilderness, but he was not among the followers of Korah who gathered together against the LORD. Instead, he died because of his own sin, and he had no sons.
Num 27:4Why should the name of our father disappear from his clan because he had no sons? Give us property among our father’s brothers.”
Num 27:6and the LORD answered him,
Num 27:7“The daughters of Zelophehad speak correctly. You certainly must give them property as an inheritance among their father’s brothers and transfer their father’s inheritance to them.
Num 27:8Furthermore, you shall say to the Israelites, ‘If a man dies and leaves no son, you are to transfer his inheritance to his daughter.
Num 27:9If he has no daughter, give his inheritance to his brothers.
Num 27:10If he has no brothers, give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
Num 27:11And if his father has no brothers, give his inheritance to the next of kin from his clan, that he may take possession of it. This is to be a statutory ordinance for the Israelites, as the LORD has commanded Moses.’”
Num 27:12Then the LORD said to Moses, “Go up this mountain of the Abarim range and see the land that I have given the Israelites.
Num 27:13After you have seen it, you too will be gathered to your people, as your brother Aaron was;
Num 27:14for when the congregation contended in the Wilderness of Zin, both of you rebelled against My command to show My holiness in their sight regarding the waters.” Those were the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the Wilderness of Zin.
Num 27:16“May the LORD, the God of the spirits of all flesh, appoint a man over the congregation
Num 27:17who will go out and come in before them, and who will lead them out and bring them in, so that the congregation of the LORD will not be like sheep without a shepherd.”
Num 27:18And the LORD replied to Moses, “Take Joshua son of Nun, a man with the Spirit in him, and lay your hands on him.
Num 27:19Have him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation, and commission him in their sight.
Num 27:20Confer on him some of your authority, so that the whole congregation of Israel will obey him.
Num 27:21He shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who will seek counsel for him before the LORD by the judgment of the Urim. At his command, he and all the Israelites with him—the entire congregation—will go out and come in.”
Num 27:22Moses did as the LORD had commanded him. He took Joshua, had him stand before Eleazar the priest and the whole congregation,
Num 27:23and laid his hands on him and commissioned him, as the LORD had instructed through Moses.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
