Description

Who was Aaron?

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Aaron was the older brother of Moses and Miriam, from the tribe of Levi. God appointed Aaron to be Moses' spokesman when Moses was called to lead the Israelites out of Egypt. Aaron performed signs before Pharaoh, including turning his staff into a snake. He assisted Moses during the Exodus, including holding up Moses' arms during the battle against the Amalekites.

God chose Aaron and his descendants to serve as priests for the Israelites. Aaron was consecrated as the first high priest and wore special priestly garments. He was responsible for offering sacrifices, burning incense, and performing other priestly duties in the tabernacle. Aaron also played a role in several significant events, such as the golden calf incident and the rebellion of Korah.

Aaron married Elisheba, and they had four sons: Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar. Nadab and Abihu died when they offered unauthorized fire before the Lord. Aaron died at the age of 123 on Mount Hor, and his son Eleazar succeeded him as high priest. Despite his flaws, Aaron was a key figure in Israel's history and played a crucial role in establishing the priesthood.

Relations

Direct connections

Every entity the graph places in a stated relation with this one, grouped by the kind of link. Each relation is authored once and its inverse derived, so both ends always agree. Rows marked “registry” come from the identity spine rather than from a verse, and a row marked “which bearer is the source’s decision” is one where the name could have meant more than one person. The last group is not a relation at all — it counts the events two entities stand in together.

How the graph connects Aaron 10 of 19 entities the graph connects to Aaron, in 2 groups: kinship 4, events 6. Kinship, company and ground are stated relations; events counts the acts two entities stand in together and is not a relation. Each mark is sized by how many verses name that entity and labelled with the link and the count, so the grouping and the size are both readable without colour. Distance from the centre carries nothing.MosesSibling of · 166 events · 786 versesLeviAncestor of · 8 events · 329 versesEleazarFather of · 7 events · 61 versesIthamarFather of · 20 versesKinshipIsrael40 events · 2,578 versesLORD10 events · 1,004 versesEgypt7 events · 649 versesPharaoh26 events · 111 versesClan6 events · 107 versesFamily6 events · 68 versesEventsAaron

Places

Where this happens

The places the claims about this person reach, drawn where the gazetteer locates them. A point is where a row puts them and never where tradition does; no line joins two points, because the rows state where and not in what order.

Where the story of Aaron happens The 24 best-attested of 50 places the claims about Aaron reach, on a map of the world the text moves through, framed to them: Hor_Mount, Egypt, Sin, Elim, Etham, Kadesh, Abronah, Alush, Bene-jaakan, Diblathaim, Dibon, Dophkah, Ezion-geber, Haradah, Hashmonah, Hazeroth, Hor-haggidgad, Jotbathah, Kehelathah, Kibroth-hattaavah, Libnah, Makheloth, Marah, Mithkah. Each dot is a coordinate from the gazetteer, sized by how many rows put Aaron there. Where Aaron is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

333 verses across 16 of 66 books; 50 write the name nowhere. Named in Exodus (109), Leviticus (77), Numbers (97), Deuteronomy (3), Joshua (6), Judges (1), 1 Samuel (2), 1 Chronicles (14), 2 Chronicles (6), Ezra (1), Nehemiah (2), Psalms (9), Micah (1), Luke (1), Acts (1) and Hebrews (3).

Aaron is named in 333 verses, and the name is written 352 times in them — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 50 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
