Description

Achshaph in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Achshaph was a Canaanite city-state mentioned in the conquest narratives of the book of Joshua. Its king, along with other northern Canaanite kings, formed an alliance against Israel led by Jabin king of Hazor (Joshua 11:1). However, Joshua defeated this coalition, capturing and destroying their cities, including Achshaph (Joshua 11:10-23). Achshaph is listed among the kings defeated by Joshua (Joshua 12:20) and later allotted to the tribe of Asher (Joshua 19:25). The exact location of Achshaph is uncertain, but it was likely situated in the western Galilee region, north of Mount Carmel.

The pattern

Where Achshaph is named

Every book of the corpus in the order it is read, each as wide as the chapters it holds. A bar is the verses of that book which write the name, and the flat stretches are as much of the answer as the bars.

3 verses across 1 of 66 books; 65 write the name nowhere. Named in Joshua (3).

Achshaph is named in 3 verses — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
