Description

Goshen in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Goshen was a town and region located in the hill country of Judah, in the southern part of the Promised Land. It is mentioned in the accounts of Joshua's military campaigns against the Canaanite kings. Joshua conquered the region from Kadesh-barnea to Gaza and from Goshen to Gibeon (Joshua 10:41). The extent of Joshua's conquests is described as covering all the land, including the hill country and the Negev, the lowland and the slopes, and all their kings, including the region of Goshen (Joshua 11:16). In the tribal allotments, Goshen is listed among the towns in the hill country of Judah (Joshua 15:51). Apart from these brief references in the book of Joshua, no further details about the town or region of Goshen in Judah are provided in the Bible. Its exact location within the hill country of Judah is uncertain.

Relations

Direct connections

Every entity the graph places in a stated relation with this one, grouped by the kind of link. Each relation is authored once and its inverse derived, so both ends always agree. Rows marked “registry” come from the identity spine rather than from a verse, and a row marked “which bearer is the source’s decision” is one where the name could have meant more than one person. The last group is not a relation at all — it counts the events two entities stand in together.

Goshen is named in 3 verses — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 65 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
