Every verse links to the people and places named in it, and to the passages readers connect it with.
The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The Israelites are rescued from the lion with no more than the corner of a bed or the cushion of a couch—a remnant so scant that even the furniture has barely survived the rescue.
Known, and therefore judgedvv. 1–8
The word is spoken against the whole family brought up from Egypt, and the old privilege turns sharply in the hand: being known above all families is the reason given for punishment. Then come the questions, each one clicking into place like a trap: joined travellers must agree, a roaring lion has prey, a snare has bait, a sounding horn brings trembling. The lion has roared, and the prophet cannot keep quiet; the arrangement is less a career choice than an unavoidable noise.
Samaria put on displayvv. 9–12
The citadels of Ashdod and Egypt are summoned to the mountains of Samaria to inspect its unrest and oppression, as though misery had been opened for foreign viewing. The inhabitants do not know how to do right; their citadels store violence and destruction, and an enemy will duly arrive to pull them down and plunder them. The promised rescue is then reduced to the sort of evidence a shepherd might retrieve from a lion: two legs, a piece of an ear, or, in Samaria, the corner of a bed and a couch cushion. It is a remarkably upholstered remnant.
Altars, houses, and the end of grandeurvv. 13–15
The house of Jacob is told to hear and testify as punishment reaches Israel's transgressions. At Bethel, the altar horns are cut off and fall to the ground. The winter house, summer house, ivory houses, and great houses follow: a whole catalogue of luxury receives the same blunt ending, until even grandeur has nowhere left to stand.

Amos 3:1Hear this word that the LORD has spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family that I brought up out of the land of Egypt:
Amos 3:2“Only you have I known from all the families of the earth; therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.”
Amos 3:3Can two walk together without agreeing where to go?
Amos 3:4Does a lion roar in the forest when he has no prey? Does a young lion growl in his den if he has caught nothing?
Amos 3:5Does a bird land in a snare where no bait has been set? Does a trap spring from the ground when it has nothing to catch?
Amos 3:6If a ram’s horn sounds in a city, do the people not tremble? If calamity comes to a city, has not the LORD caused it?
Amos 3:7Surely the Lord GOD does nothing without revealing His plan to His servants the prophets.
Amos 3:8The lion has roared—who will not fear? The Lord GOD has spoken—who will not prophesy?
Amos 3:9Proclaim to the citadels of Ashdod and to the citadels of Egypt: “Assemble on the mountains of Samaria; see the great unrest in the city and the acts of oppression in her midst.”
Amos 3:10“For they know not how to do right,” declares the LORD. “They store up violence and destruction in their citadels.”
Amos 3:11Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: “An enemy will surround the land; he will pull down your strongholds and plunder your citadels.”
Amos 3:12This is what the LORD says: “As the shepherd snatches from the mouth of the lion two legs or a piece of an ear, so the Israelites dwelling in Samaria will be rescued having just the corner of a bed or the cushion of a couch.
Amos 3:13Hear and testify against the house of Jacob, declares the Lord GOD, the God of Hosts.
Amos 3:14On the day I punish Israel for their transgressions, I will visit destruction on the altars of Bethel; the horns of the altar will be cut off, and they will fall to the ground.
Amos 3:15I will tear down the winter house along with the summer house; the houses of ivory will also perish, and the great houses will come to an end,” declares the LORD.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
