What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
Ezekiel’s wife dies in the evening, and by the next morning he has put on his turban, strapped on his sandals, and obeyed the command not to mourn. A household sorrow has been made into a public sign, with remarkably practical instructions for grief: keep dressed, keep quiet, and do not eat the mourners’ bread.
The pot that will not come cleanvv. 1–14
On the very day the king of Babylon lays siege to Jerusalem, Ezekiel is told to set a cooking pot over the fire and fill it with the choicest meat and bones. The city is the pot: bloody, rusted, and impossible to clean. Even after the meat is cooked, the contents emptied, and the bare pot heated until its copper glows, the rust remains—a kitchen demonstration with the dreadful persistence of a stubborn saucepan.
A death without the usual furniture of griefvv. 15–27
Ezekiel is warned that the desire of his eyes will be taken away by a fatal blow, and commanded to groan quietly without performing the ordinary rites of mourning. That evening his wife dies. The next morning he does exactly as commanded, and when the people ask what it means, he explains that they too will lose the sanctuary they prize and their sons and daughters, yet will be left without the customary mourning. Ezekiel himself is to be the sign; later, when a fugitive brings the news, his mouth will open and he will speak.

Ezek 24:1In the ninth year, on the tenth day of the tenth month, the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ezek 24:2“Son of man, write down today’s date, for on this very day the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem.
Ezek 24:3Now speak a parable to this rebellious house and tell them that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Put the pot on the fire; put it on and pour in the water.
Ezek 24:4Put in the pieces of meat, every good piece—thigh and shoulder—fill it with choice bones.
Ezek 24:5Take the choicest of the flock and pile the fuel beneath it. Bring it to a boil and cook the bones in it.’
Ezek 24:6Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Woe to the city of bloodshed, to the pot now rusted, whose rust will not come off! Empty it piece by piece; cast no lots for its contents.
Ezek 24:7For the blood she shed is still within her; she poured it out on the bare rock; she did not pour it on the ground to cover it with dust.
Ezek 24:8In order to stir up wrath and take vengeance, I have placed her blood on the bare rock, so that it would not be covered.’
Ezek 24:9Yes, this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Woe to the city of bloodshed! I, too, will pile the kindling high.
Ezek 24:10Pile on the logs and kindle the fire; cook the meat well and mix in the spices; let the bones be burned.
Ezek 24:11Set the empty pot on its coals until it becomes hot and its copper glows. Then its impurity will melt within; its rust will be consumed.
Ezek 24:12It has frustrated every effort; its thick rust has not been removed, even by the fire.
Ezek 24:13Because of the indecency of your uncleanness I tried to cleanse you, but you would not be purified from your filthiness. You will not be pure again until My wrath against you has subsided.
Ezek 24:14I, the LORD, have spoken; the time is coming, and I will act. I will not refrain or show pity, nor will I relent. I will judge you according to your ways and deeds,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
Ezek 24:15Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
Ezek 24:16“Son of man, behold, I am about to take away the desire of your eyes with a fatal blow. But you must not mourn or weep or let your tears flow.
Ezek 24:17Groan quietly; do not mourn for the dead. Put on your turban and strap your sandals on your feet; do not cover your lips or eat the bread of mourners.”
Ezek 24:18So I spoke to the people in the morning, and in the evening my wife died. And the next morning I did as I had been commanded.
Ezek 24:19Then the people asked me, “Won’t you tell us what these things you are doing mean to us?”
Ezek 24:20So I answered them, “The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
Ezek 24:21Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to desecrate My sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.’
Ezek 24:22Then you will do as I have done: You will not cover your lips or eat the bread of mourners.
Ezek 24:23Your turbans will remain on your heads and your sandals on your feet. You will not mourn or weep, but you will waste away because of your sins, and you will groan among yourselves.
Ezek 24:24‘Thus Ezekiel will be a sign for you; you will do everything that he has done. When this happens, you will know that I am the Lord GOD.’
Ezek 24:25And you, son of man, know that on the day I take away their stronghold, their pride and joy—the desire of their eyes which uplifted their souls—and their sons and daughters as well,
Ezek 24:26on that day a fugitive will come and tell you the news.
Ezek 24:27On that day your mouth will be opened to him who has escaped; you will speak and no longer be mute. So you will be a sign to them, and they will know that I am the LORD.”

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
