What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
Jesus is recognized at the exact moment he breaks bread, and vanishes at once from the table.
The empty tomb and the baffled runnersvv. 1–12
At first light, the women arrive with spices and find the stone rolled away, the tomb empty, and two radiant men waiting beside it. The women remember Jesus’ words, report everything to the Eleven, and are dismissed as speaking nonsense. Peter, less dismissive, runs to the tomb, finds only linen cloths, and goes away wondering what has happened.
The stranger on the road to Emmausvv. 13–35
Two disciples walk towards Emmaus discussing Jesus, and Jesus joins them while their eyes are kept from recognizing him. He lets them explain the recent events to their supposed fellow traveller, then explains the Scriptures from Moses and all the Prophets. Recognition arrives during the breaking of bread, at which precise moment Jesus disappears. The two hurry back to Jerusalem, where the Eleven are already saying that the Lord has appeared to Simon.
Fish, opened minds, and the road to heavenvv. 36–53
Jesus stands among the gathered disciples, who take him for a spirit even after hearing him say, “Peace be with you.” He shows them his hands and feet, asks for food, and eats broiled fish in front of them—a remarkably practical demonstration. He opens their minds to the Scriptures, tells them to remain in Jerusalem until they receive power from on high, and leads them as far as Bethany. There he is carried up into heaven while blessing them; they return to Jerusalem with great joy and praise God in the temple.

Luke 24:1On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women came to the tomb, bringing the spices they had prepared.
Luke 24:2They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
Luke 24:3but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
Luke 24:4While they were puzzling over this, suddenly two men in radiant apparel stood beside them.
Luke 24:5As the women bowed their faces to the ground in terror, the two men asked them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead?
Luke 24:6He is not here; He has risen! Remember how He told you while He was still in Galilee:
Luke 24:7‘The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and on the third day rise again.’”
Luke 24:8Then they remembered His words.
Luke 24:9And when they returned from the tomb, they reported all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.
Luke 24:10It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them who told this to the apostles.
Luke 24:11But their words seemed like nonsense to them, and they did not believe the women.
Luke 24:12Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. And after bending down and seeing only the linen cloths, he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
Luke 24:13That same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.
Luke 24:14They were talking with each other about everything that had happened.
Luke 24:15And as they talked and deliberated, Jesus Himself came up and walked along with them.
Luke 24:16But their eyes were kept from recognizing Him.
Luke 24:17He asked them, “What are you discussing so intently as you walk along?” They stood still, with sadness on their faces.
Luke 24:18One of them, named Cleopas, asked Him, “Are You the only visitor to Jerusalem who does not know the things that have happened there in recent days?”
Luke 24:19“What things?” He asked. “The events involving Jesus of Nazareth,” they answered. “This man was a prophet, powerful in speech and action before God and all the people.
Luke 24:20Our chief priests and rulers delivered Him up to the sentence of death, and they crucified Him.
Luke 24:21But we were hoping He was the One who would redeem Israel. And besides all this, it is the third day since these things took place.
Luke 24:22Furthermore, some of our women astounded us. They were at the tomb early this morning,
Luke 24:23but they did not find His body. They came and told us they had seen a vision of angels, who said that Jesus was alive.
Luke 24:24Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had described. But Him they did not see.”
Luke 24:25Then Jesus said to them, “O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
Luke 24:26Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and then to enter His glory?”
Luke 24:27And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, He explained to them what was written in all the Scriptures about Himself.
Luke 24:28As they approached the village where they were headed, He seemed to be going farther.
Luke 24:29But they pleaded with Him, “Stay with us, for it is nearly evening and the day is almost over.” So He went in to stay with them.
Luke 24:30While He was reclining at the table with them, He took bread, spoke a blessing and broke it, and gave it to them.
Luke 24:31Then their eyes were opened and they recognized Jesus—and He disappeared from their sight.
Luke 24:32They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us as He spoke with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
Luke 24:33And they got up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, gathered together
Luke 24:34and saying, “The Lord has indeed risen and has appeared to Simon!”
Luke 24:35Then the two told what had happened on the road, and how they had recognized Jesus in the breaking of the bread.
Luke 24:36While they were describing these events, Jesus Himself stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”
Luke 24:37But they were startled and frightened, thinking they had seen a spirit.
Luke 24:38“Why are you troubled,” Jesus asked, “and why do doubts arise in your hearts?
Luke 24:39Look at My hands and My feet. It is I Myself. Touch Me and see—for a spirit does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.”
Luke 24:40And when He had said this, He showed them His hands and feet.
Luke 24:41While they were still in disbelief because of their joy and amazement, He asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?”
Luke 24:42So they gave Him a piece of broiled fish,
Luke 24:43and He took it and ate it in front of them.
Luke 24:44Jesus said to them, “These are the words I spoke to you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about Me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets, and the Psalms.”
Luke 24:45Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures.
Luke 24:46And He told them, “This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
Luke 24:47and in His name repentance and forgiveness of sins will be proclaimed to all nations, beginning in Jerusalem.
Luke 24:48You are witnesses of these things.
Luke 24:49And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you. But remain in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.”
Luke 24:50When Jesus had led them out as far as Bethany, He lifted up His hands and blessed them.
Luke 24:51While He was blessing them, He left them and was carried up into heaven.
Luke 24:52And they worshiped Him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
Luke 24:53praising God continually in the temple.

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
