The chapter
What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
A nation is made to stand beside a clay jar, and the jar is then broken because it cannot be repaired. The potter’s little object has been given a most alarming promotion.
The jar and the valleyvv. 1–9
The LORD sends Jeremiah to buy a clay jar and take elders of the people and leaders of the priests to the Valley of Ben-hinnom, near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. There Jeremiah is to speak to the kings of Judah and the residents of Jerusalem about abandoned worship, innocent blood, and children burned as offerings to Baal—an act dismissed with a remarkably emphatic absence: not commanded, not mentioned, and not even entering the divine mind. The place is to lose the name Topheth and become the Valley of Slaughter, while Judah and Jerusalem are promised ruin, siege, and the most terrible consequences of siege.
The unrepairable thingvv. 10–15
The message acquires a prop. Jeremiah shatters the jar before the men who accompany him and declares that the nation and the city will be shattered in the same fashion: like a potter’s jar that can never again be repaired. Topheth, newly displaced by the Valley of Slaughter, promptly returns as the measure of the city’s fate, with burials filling it and Jerusalem’s rooftops defiled. Jeremiah then comes back from Topheth, stands in the courtyard of the house of the LORD, and proclaims that disaster is coming upon the city and its surrounding villages because the people have stiffened their necks against the words spoken to them.

Jer 19:1This is what the LORD says: “Go and buy a clay jar from a potter. Take some of the elders of the people and leaders of the priests,
Jer 19:2and go out to the Valley of Ben-hinnom near the entrance of the Potsherd Gate. Proclaim there the words I speak to you,
Jer 19:3saying, ‘Hear the word of the LORD, O kings of Judah and residents of Jerusalem. This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I am going to bring such disaster on this place that the ears of all who hear of it will ring,
Jer 19:4because they have abandoned Me and made this a foreign place. They have burned incense in this place to other gods that neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have ever known. They have filled this place with the blood of the innocent.
Jer 19:5They have built high places to Baal on which to burn their children in the fire as offerings to Baal—something I never commanded or mentioned, nor did it even enter My mind.
Jer 19:6So behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when this place will no longer be called Topheth or the Valley of Ben-hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.
Jer 19:7And in this place I will ruin the plans of Judah and Jerusalem. I will make them fall by the sword before their enemies, by the hands of those who seek their lives, and I will give their carcasses as food to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth.
Jer 19:8I will make this city a desolation and an object of scorn. All who pass by will be appalled and will scoff at all her wounds.
Jer 19:9I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and daughters, and they will eat one another’s flesh in the siege and distress inflicted on them by their enemies who seek their lives.’
Jer 19:10Then you are to shatter the jar in the presence of the men who accompany you,
Jer 19:11and you are to proclaim to them that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: I will shatter this nation and this city, like one shatters a potter’s jar that can never again be repaired. They will bury the dead in Topheth until there is no more room to bury them.
Jer 19:12This is what I will do to this place and to its residents, declares the LORD. I will make this city like Topheth.
Jer 19:13The houses of Jerusalem and the houses of the kings of Judah will be defiled like that place, Topheth—all the houses on whose rooftops they burned incense to all the host of heaven and poured out drink offerings to other gods.”
Jer 19:14Then Jeremiah returned from Topheth, where the LORD had sent him to prophesy, and he stood in the courtyard of the house of the LORD and proclaimed to all the people,
Jer 19:15“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I am about to bring on this city and on all the villages around it every disaster I have pronounced against them, because they have stiffened their necks so as not to heed My words.’”

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
