What happens here
Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.
The sword is told to return to its sheath, and immediately explains why retirement is impossible: it has been given another assignment.
The torrent from the northvv. 1–5
Jeremiah receives a word about the Philistines, with Gaza already under the shadow of Pharaoh. Then the north sends not a neat little stream but an overflowing torrent, carrying away land, cities, and inhabitants. The noise arrives first: stallions, chariots, wheels. Fathers do not even turn back for their sons. Gaza shaves its head, Ashkelon falls silent, and Tyre and Sidon lose every remaining ally. Caphtor supplies the remnant, and the remnant is now being removed.
A very short retirementvv. 6–7
The lament turns oddly intimate. Someone addresses the sword of the LORD as though it might be persuaded to take a rest, find its sheath, and be still. The answer is brisk: a sword commanded against Ashkelon and its coastland does not get to put its feet up. The whole exchange lasts two verses, which is just long enough for the sword to be asked politely and for orders to win.

Jer 47:1This is the word of the LORD that came to Jeremiah the prophet about the Philistines before Pharaoh struck down Gaza.
Jer 47:2This is what the LORD says: “See how the waters are rising from the north and becoming an overflowing torrent. They will overflow the land and its fullness, the cities and their inhabitants. The people will cry out, and all who dwell in the land will wail
Jer 47:3at the sound of the galloping hooves of stallions, the rumbling of chariots, and the clatter of their wheels. The fathers will not turn back for their sons; their hands will hang limp.
Jer 47:4For the day has come to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon every remaining ally. Indeed, the LORD is about to destroy the Philistines, the remnant from the coasts of Caphtor.
Jer 47:5The people of Gaza will shave their heads in mourning; Ashkelon will be silenced. O remnant of their valley, how long will you gash yourself?
Jer 47:6‘Alas, O sword of the LORD, how long until you rest? Return to your sheath; cease and be still!’
Jer 47:7How can it rest when the LORD has commanded it? He has appointed it against Ashkelon and the shore of its coastland.”

Who else the chapter reaches
Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.
Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.
Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
