The chapter

What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

The ark arrives, the sacrifices are offered, and David hands every man and woman in Israel the same three-part feast: a loaf, a date cake, and a raisin cake. Then the musicians begin, with Jeiel appearing twice in the roster and Obed-edom arriving with precisely sixty-eight relatives.

The ark gets a tent, a feast, and an orchestravv. 1–7

The ark is brought into the tent David has pitched, and burnt offerings and peace offerings are presented before God. David blesses Israel, then distributes the remarkably exact refreshments. He appoints Levites to serve before the ark: Asaph leads, the instruments are assigned, and the priests Benaiah and Jahaziel are given trumpets. The roster contains Jeiel twice, with no explanation and no apology. On that day David commits a song of thanksgiving to Asaph and his associates.

A song that gathers in the whole earthvv. 8–36

The song begins with thanksgiving and a summons to tell the nations what the LORD has done. It remembers the covenant with Abraham and the oath to Isaac, then follows the people from their small beginnings and wandering among kingdoms to the promised portion of Canaan. From there the song opens out magnificently: nations, heavens, earth, sea, fields, and even forest trees are called into the chorus. It ends with a cry to be gathered and delivered, followed by the people’s emphatic double response.

Two sanctuaries, regular duties, and homevv. 37–43

David leaves Asaph and his associates before the ark for their daily ministry, joined by Obed-edom and his sixty-eight relatives. Obed-edom and Hosah serve as gatekeepers. At the high place in Gibeon, Zadok and the priests continue the morning and evening offerings. Heman and Jeduthun bring trumpets, cymbals, and instruments for the songs of God, while Jeduthun’s sons take their station at the gate. Then the people go home, and David returns home to bless his household.

Who else the chapter reaches

Names written in the English are linked in the text above. These are the ones that are not: an entity the Hebrew or Greek names under a spelling the translation does not use, or one reached only by an assertion about a verse of this chapter.

Named in the Hebrew or Greek somewhere in this chapter, under a form the English renders differently — the registry's Ludim against the translation's Ludites — so there is no word in the sentence to hang the link on.

Reached by an assertion Atlas extracted from a verse of this chapter rather than by a name written in it — a pronoun, a title, or a participant the sentence carries without naming. This layer is model-read and measured at 88.6–90.3% precision, and it is kept separate from the names above for that reason.
