Description

Netophah in the text

In the words of STEPBible TIPNR:

Netophah was a town in Judah, located near Bethlehem. It is mentioned several times in the Bible, particularly in connection with the people who lived there. Some of the inhabitants of Netophah returned from the Babylonian exile (Ezra 2:22; Neh. 7:26). The town was also the hometown of several notable figures, including two of David's mighty men, Maharai and Heleb (2Sam. 23:28-29; 1Chr. 11:30; 27:13, 15), and a Levite named Shemaiah (1Chr. 9:16). Additionally, some Levites from Netophah participated in the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem during the time of Nehemiah (Neh. 12:28). The "sons of the prophets" from Netophah are mentioned in the context of Gedaliah's governorship after the fall of Jerusalem (2Kgs. 25:23; Jer. 40:8).

Relations

Direct connections

Every entity the graph places in a stated relation with this one, grouped by the kind of link. Each relation is authored once and its inverse derived, so both ends always agree. Rows marked “registry” come from the identity spine rather than from a verse, and a row marked “which bearer is the source’s decision” is one where the name could have meant more than one person. The last group is not a relation at all — it counts the events two entities stand in together.

Netophah is named in 12 verses, and the name is written 13 times in them — occurrences of the name in the Hebrew or Greek, counted in the versification of the Berean Standard Bible (v5.7). Every book of the corpus is drawn, its width its share of the 1,189 chapters. 60 of the 66 books never write it. A verse that tells of this subject without writing the name is not counted here.
