What happens here

Atlas's own reading, written from this chapter and nothing else, and published only once a person has approved it. Each scene names the verses it covers; the names inside it link to the people and places they name.

It is a love song in which the beloved straps on a sword, rides to victory, and leaves nations beneath his feet—before the queen appears in gold and the bride is told to forget her father’s house.

A warrior king with a throne that outruns timevv. 1–9

The song begins with a heart stirred by its subject, and the singer’s tongue becomes a writer’s pen. The king is handsome, gracious, armed, victorious, and surrounded by the pleasingly extravagant evidence of court: fragrant garments, ivory palaces, harps, royal daughters, and a queen wearing Ophir’s gold. The most remarkable turn comes in the throne-room language: the king is addressed as God, yet God—“your God”—anoints him above his companions. A love song, certainly, though one with arrows in it.

The bride enters, and the old household is left behindvv. 10–17

The poem now turns from the king to the daughter, urging her to listen, incline her ear, and forget her people and her father’s house. The king will desire her beauty; she is to bow to him. Tyre arrives bearing a gift, wealthy men seek her favor, and the princess is led from her embroidered chamber into the palace with her companions, amid joy and gladness. The song finishes by looking forward to sons, princes, generations, and nations praising the king forever—a wedding procession with an unusually long horizon.
